September 21st, 2011 was a big day. A lot of new features, apps, extensions, and controversy!
I’ll leave it to you to decide if it was a good day or bad day, but here’s a summary in headlines, with the articles I think you should read to get caught up.
The news ticker was found to be annoying by many including me…
I wrote a post called “7 Ways To Kill That Annoying News Ticker On Facebook“, and it’s mostly humorous, but it’s worth it just to see the picture of a post-it covering my news ticker.
The best real solution is this: “Hate Facebook’s Ticker? Try This Chrome Extension“. It worked for me. (Hooked on phonics, for you Brian Regan fans) Or click here if you’re a Firefox user.
Some people disliked the changes so much, they want to tell Facebook…
A lot of people like it the way it was. Some marketers are worried that EdgeRank is not important enough anymore. Or that marketers will start over-posting to get more recency and end up creating too much noise. And advertisers are worried about the news ticker taking up their ad space.
If you wanted to know, read “Where To Complain To Facebook About The Changes” and if you want to join in a big vote, go to “VOTE: Are Facebook Complaints Setting A New Record?”
But hey you can get more data about your posts now…
Want more data about your Facebook posts? Check out the new export features… it makes you an Excel workbook with EIGHT worksheets of data: “Facebook Adds Per Post Impression Data to Page Insights Exports to Help Brands Track Their Performance“… but only the last 15 posts, so you probably ought to check out PageLever.

Even more entertaining? Facebook misspelled the word separated. :-) Fun.
